The Region 10 PIHP was formed in the Fall of 2013 after submission of an Application for Participation to the Michigan Department of Community Health.
The Michigan Department of Community Health issued an Application for Participation for Specialty Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans in February 2013. The AFP lead to the selection of 10 PIHPs in the State of Michigan. The regional geographic area for Region 10 was designated as including Genesee, Lapeer, Sanilac and St. Clair counties. Included within the AFP were the following areas: Governance, Administrative Functions, Information Systems Management, Provider Network Management, Utilization Management, Customer Service, Quality Management, Accreditation, External Quality Review, and Public Policy Initiatives. A response to the AFP was submitted to MDCH by April 1, 2014, which detailed the creation of the Region 10 PIHP.
Region 10 2013 Application for Participation
In July 2013 as a result of the Application for Participation process, the Michigan Department of Community Health announced that it was presenting an award to Region 10 PIHP. Contract negotiations followed throughout the summer and fall. A contract was signed for the Region 10 PIHP to become the new regional entity as of January 1, 2014.
